Accept MTG cards started to smell different in the past couple years?

I am well aware of the fact that cards from booster packs take had a blatantly dissimilar smell than cards from intro packs/duel decks etc for a while now. People take already discussed that earlier, and it's a well known affair that that had to do with the intro pack/duel deck stuff being printed from some other printing place than the main, regular booster pack cards.
That^^, however, is NOT what this thread is about.
Rather, my question is to do with recent REGULAR magic cards from standard booster packs.
I have noticed that fifty-fifty cards opened from booster packs at present have that new, non-traditional aroma (the same smell that used to merely be on the intro pack/duel deck cards).
For over twenty years, MTG cards from booster packs all the same had that same distinctive olfactory property (very slight variances between editions, but the principal underlying aroma was always basically the same, very distinctive scent).
But now, equally of these terminal few sets, this is obviously no longer the case.
(I happened to love the smell of booster-pack MTG cards extremely passionately, ever since I was a kid, thus the reason the alter in scent is then BLATANT to me and something I literally notice instantly right when I open the pack, permit alone if I actually sniff the cards)
So:
1. Has anyone else noticed this?
and
2. Is it possible that a whole bunch of fake MTG booster packs/fatty packs/booster boxes are somehow being sold from the primary, biggest-proper name sellers on Amazon? That seems totally crazy to me, and I doubt it'south the example, but I gauge I have to enquire just in the off chance information technology's possible. (I've also noticed that the texture of the ink on the cards is rougher, and the cardboard itself seems to exist slightly grainier (if y'all hold it diagonally under a light, instead of that silky-smooth texture that most of the sets from Delusion-a few years ago had, they at present well-nigh look like they have microscopic, needle-shaped grain-grooves in the texture kinda, and a little "glossier" rather than silky-smooth-matte texture).
In regards to this^^ 2nd question: I guess I'll ask: has anyone opened whatever Kaladesh boosters that really DO have the traditional, sometime-schoolhouse style MTG booster pack-opened bill of fare olfactory property? (Like, the scent that the cards from the kickoff 20ish years of MTG all unanimously had)? Anyone? I've opened boosters from several dissimilar fat packs/booster boxes/sellers/etc and ALL of them have that newer-way odor (which I don't like equally much) and NONE had that oldschool MTG carte du jour smell.
?
edit: but to be articulate, I'one thousand bold they only switched to using the print shops that they used to merely utilize for the specialty packs (intro packs/duel decks etc) as their main/overall printer now, to cut costs, since it now both looks, smells, and feels identical to how those cards looked/smelled/felt. Simply, I figured it's still making me a little nervous, and desire to make sure nobody hither has smelled whatever oldschool-MTG-card-scent Kaladesh cards (because, if they accept, then, that would potentially be at to the lowest degree a footling chip worrisome to me)

I really doubt anyone would waste the ridiculous ammounts of money it'd have to convincingly pirate current Magic sets. They'd have to be selling cases for $12k to make the print run profitable, or spending millions making a print run comparable to Hasbro's.

Yep, the last couple years' worth of sets have had a different scent, as you say, similar to the duel deck/commander product smell. I find it likewise as I like the smell of freshly-opened cards, except I don't like the newer olfactory property equally much.
As for the counterfeit thing, I doubt information technology. The cards I buy come from a retailer who buys from a licensed distributor, so it's simply a change they've made (probable moving the printing of major sets to the same outfit that does the supplemental products).

Alright, whew/~wipes forehead~, I am glad to hear that I'm non the only 1 who noticed the change in how the cards smell, lol.
Anyway, yea I'm not one of those conspiracy weirdos or annihilation similar that, and I'thousand certain information technology'southward like 99.999% take chances it'south just normal standard stuff like they only changed what print store is printing the cards or whatever for these about recent sets since they take been press such extra-enormously huge print runs or whatever and probably decided to cut costs past using whatever this inferior, less-awesome-smelling, less-smoothly-textured stuff is.
The ane matter that was making me that tiny 0.001% nervous, tho, was I was watching some random vid on youtube earlier today about how to spot fakes, and the guy was showing a total range of apocryphal cards from the really laughably crappy/like shooting fish in a barrel-to-detect ones, to some SCARY-expert ones that were ludicrously difficult to spot, and (here's the part that got me nervous) the minuscule differences between the really adept fake and the legit bill of fare that he was able to point out were basically this exact stuff (alter in texture to a more glossy/pine-woods-texture-ey vibe, and change in how the bill of fare smells, and the dark inks having a slightly rougher more painted-on-feeling texture rather than that silky-smooth-ultrafine-matte feel that the older cards used to have, etc). So, literally all the exact aforementioned changes that I've been noticing on all my booster pack cards from these most recent sets.
So, fifty-fifty though I was chuckling to myself out loud like "ohhh come off it dizzy 'ole self getting all paranoid... stop beingness such a weirdo/spaz Shambling_StrideGumChewer, I'm sure information technology's just a change in impress shops etc" you lot can probably understand why I still kinda squinted/hesitated juuuust plenty to exist like "well, I gauge information technology couldn't hurt to at least ASK simply to make certain everyone else noticed the same changes and it's not only me and whatever store I bought this stuff from. (better safe than deplorable, etc etc).
Anyway, I'one thousand rambling, then I'll just end myself here, lol.
Cliffnotes: Alright cool, that's what I thought, but, just wanted to check and make certain it wasn't but me etc etc

Okay, that seems to be when it started for me as well, so I guess that'due south all it was.
On a side note btw: I am actually kind of ticked off about it, lol. I strongly preferred the old version of how the cards used to aroma and their texture/etc compared to this new stuff. The quondam ones felt and then much silkier and smoother compared to these (these ones have more than of a scratched-glossy look/feel to them, kind of a cheaper vibe). And the scent... man... I know it's ridiculous simply I'm seriously bummed out about the change in how they odor, lol. I can still remember the start time I smelled that distinct oldschool MTG card scent when I was around 8 years old dorsum around the 4th edition/ice age era, walking into a room full of freshly opened MTG packs. E'er since and then, it'southward been literally my favorite smell in the world for the by xx years. Was and then disappointed when fifty-fifty the main boosters no longer have that distinctive MTG smell anymore
